The acronym NTI stands for nocturnal (nighttime) inhibition (stop) of trigeminal (this is a nerve in your head) nociception (activity produced in the nervous system by stimuli).  In plain old English, it stands for stopping nighttime stress on the nerves in your head caused by grinding, clinching, and other jaw muscle activity.

The NTI is a small hard plastic device that is placed on the teeth at night that inhibits stress to your jaw muscles, reducing the amount of stimulus the nerves receive in your head.  This stress us usually caused by grinding teeth or other repetitive motions.  Although the NTI is a very simple concept, the effects can be dramatic, reducing nighttime tension in the jaw, neck, and shoulders, reducing the occurrence of tension headaches, migraines, and sore muscles.
