Sedation Dentistry questions, answered.

Still have a question?
Ask our Smile Guide anytime, or call and a real person on our team will help.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Yes. We review your health history in advance, use proven medications and monitor you throughout. Nitrous oxide wears off within minutes; oral and IV sedation require a driver home.
What’s the difference between oral conscious sedation and IV sedation?
Oral conscious sedation is a prescribed pill taken before your visit that leaves you calm and drowsy. IV sedation is given through a small line in your arm, takes effect within minutes and lets us adjust the level throughout treatment, which makes it a good fit for longer procedures and higher anxiety.
Will I be asleep?
With oral conscious or IV sedation you’re deeply relaxed and can respond, but most patients remember very little of the appointment.
Can I get sedation for a cleaning?
Absolutely. If anxiety keeps you from routine care, sedation can be used for cleanings and exams too.
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes. We welcome new patients and families from Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Granite Bay and Antelope, and new patients can take advantage of our current specials.
Do you take patients without insurance?
Absolutely. We welcome uninsured patients with cash, all major credit cards, third-party financing and Quest Care, our in-house membership plan.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer financing through CareCredit, Sunbit and LendingClub so you can split treatment into monthly payments, often with low or no interest based on approval.
Can you see me for a dental emergency?
We offer same-day emergency visits whenever possible. Call us as early as you can, and new patients without insurance can get a $49 emergency exam and x-ray.
Can I see what my new smile might look like?
Yes. Our free Smile Preview lets you upload a selfie and see an AI-generated preview of your smile in seconds. Bring it to your consultation and we will walk through your real options.
What are your office hours?
We are open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Call us to book, or request a visit online anytime.

“I trust both my hygienist & Dr. Smurthwaite.”
My dental hygienist, Capina, is very efficient, positive, very thorough and just an all-around excellent hygienist. Dr. Smurthwaite did an excellent job. I trust both my dental hygienist and Dr. Smurthwaite, and yes, I would recommend people to Smile Quest.

“The best experience I’ve had with dental services.”
I’ve been going to this office for a couple of years now and it’s been the best experience I’ve had with dental services. Giampiero does my cleanings and x-rays every 6 months and he is always so diligent and kind. He makes sure I am comfortable and always gives me great tips.
