Same-Day Crowns: How CEREC Saves You a Second Visit

Reviewed by Dr. Charles Smurthwaite, DDS, MS ·

The short answer

CEREC crowns are designed from a 3D scan and milled from high-strength ceramic in the office, so a permanent crown is placed in one visit of about two hours. They are as durable as lab-made crowns and eliminate the temporary crown and second appointment.

The traditional way

Traditionally, crowns take two visits two weeks apart, a goopy impression and a fragile temporary in between.

The CEREC way

We scan, design on-screen and mill your crown while you relax. It’s bonded the same day — one numbing, one visit.
